Mandy qualified as a physiotherapist from the University of Witwatersrand (South Africa) in 2008. She worked in South Africa in private practice physiotherapy until 2021 when she moved to Australia with her family. She currently works in private practice in Brisbane (Australia). Mandy has a keen special interest in pelvic health physiotherapy and has received additional training in female, male and children’s pelvic health. She has a particular interest in postpartum recovery and performs her signature ‘Postpartum Physiotherapy Check’. She is also passionate about helping women with chronic pelvic pain conditions like endometriosis, interstitial cystitis and painful intercourse. Mandy calls herself a "Curious Clinician" and is constantly taking courses to further her professional development. She is always asking ‘WHY?’, which allows her to find the root cause of a problem (why is this pain happening, why is urine leaking, why am I struggling to empty my bowels) rather than just doing symptomatic treatment where patients have to come back constantly for symptom relief. Mandy splits her time between being a mum, seeing patients clinically, and teaching courses to other physiotherapists. Her flagship course ‘Women’s Pelvic Health: Foundations and Fundamentals’, a course that teaches physiotherapists how to perform safe and traumainformed internal vaginal examinations, was launched last year. She has since trained over 100 Australian physiotherapists in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. Her self-paced online courses in musculoskeletal and pelvic health have been taken by over 1400 health professionals around the world.
